About Dodge Durango

Beginning with the 1998 model year, Dodge began production of the first generation of the Durango, which is a mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) that has been produced in three generations. Both of the first two generations were extremely comparable to one another due to the fact that they were both derived from the Dodge Dakota and the Ram Pickup, that they both utilized a body-on-frame construction method, and that they were both manufactured at the Newark Assembly Plant in Newark, Delaware up until the 2009 model year.

The 2011 model year marked the debut of the third generation of the Durango. It is constructed using a unibody design, and since late 2010, it has been put together at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, which is located in the state of Michigan. It is built on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

As part of Dodge’s transition to a brand that is more focused on performance, the Dodge Journey has been phased out of production, leaving the Dodge Durango as the only SUV that the company still produces.
